All Dried Up!
My new obsession is drying fruit! I just can't get enough! Josh's co-worker gave us her old food dehydrator since she never used it. It is old but still does the job. I got it out this week and it has been running non-stop! I have been drying peaches, apples, and plums. I love the aroma that has been lingering in our house. I added cinnamon to the apples and fall is definitely in the air.
I have been bagging the fruit in snack bags for easy, healthy, on the go treats. I am going to buy pears at the Farmer's Market this weekend so I can dry those. I am telling you, it is an addiction:) Have a great weekend everyone!!

That is a really neat thing to have!
Your fruit looks delicious - I recently made a great recipe Apple-Cherry Crumble Bars that used dried apples.
What a great appliance to have on hand! The fruit looks great.
That dried fruit looks yummy! My sister is addicted too...I might have to get myself an dehydrator.
Great snacks!
Drying fruit is so fun. I just finished up drying practically a whole box of peaches. They're great and last forever. We also make homemade fruit leather all the time by blending up fruit and adding a little bit of natural applesauce. Have you ever tried that? Another great use of the food dehydrator.
My in-laws got a new dehydrator and they have been making so much good stuff. Now I want one!! And your fruit makes me want one even more!
Sooo cool!!! You guys make fresh pasta, you dry your own fruit.....jeez, you're making us all look bad over here :)
That would make a really nice gift for the holidays. I'll send you my address. LOL.
Try mangos!
Looks like you're ready to run a business with dried fruit. Great tool to have so you can have any fruit whenever you want.
We have been doing this too. It disappears so fast. My favorite is dried peaches and pears, although bananas come close. So much better than store bought!
I want a frut dehydrator now. What a healthy and delicious snack to have.
Well at least you have a nice healthy obsession!
This would be trouble fo rme! I can't get enough of dried pineapple! Your big pile of fruit looks awesome!
Cool! I've never used one of these but looks like fun.
OOOH! I should look on Craig's List for a dehydrator. Good snack idea, Maria! I'm loving all the fall recipes you're posting here. I can pretend it's fall at my house with food even though it's still in the 80's-90's here.
those look really good...yummy to dried fruit. i made your toffee cookies - they were SO good! i left out the cinnamon chips and oatmeal and just added the toffee chunks...the cookie was soft and chewy!
That's an addiction I would no problem satisfying :) I love dried fruit, and you're right... so perfect on the go. I like the look of the fruit... it's like Fall leaves, but with edible sweetness.
So cool! What an awesome gift to get from a friend. I mean, it's totally the kind of thing I would feel guilty buying, but something I would love to have. I love dries apples, especially in salads.
i'm right there with ya, even though i don't have a cool dehydrator. your slices look yummy. :)
Your dried fruit looks so pretty, like a collage.
What glorious dried fruit! It even looks life Fall!
Great way to hang on to all the flavors of fall.
what a great and healthy snack... can i have a bag? lol... :)
Ooh, that looks fun and delicious!
A few years ago my grandparents were drying fruit like mad and I used to enjoy trying out all of their batches. Yours looks like it turned out perfectly!
Oooh -- what a great new toy! Glad you guys are having fun with it. I'll be checking in for some good dried fruit recipes!
That would be awesome for granola.
What a great appliance to have! The fruit looks wonderful :)

I have a dehydrator - how long does it take to dry apples? How do you store them? Do you add anything to them?
Wonderful that you are preserving your own fruit. I hope to one day soon too.
I've been drying fruit lately too! I really like dried pears!
Wow! that looks awesome! I've always wanted a dehydrator! The colours look amazing. It's got to be way better than store-bought dried fruit!
Natashya- It takes about a day to dry the apples. Depending on how thick you slice them and your dehydrator. They make the house smell so good! I store them in plastic baggies for snacks! I added cinnamon to the apples but that was it. It is so easy!! You should try it!
I am so jealous of your dehydrator. That is one of those gadgets I could never justify buying for myself because I wouldn't use it enough, but would totally love to have if I had an unlimited budget and storage space. Dried pears and plums sound amazing!
Wow that dried fruit looks so good!
Ok, now I'm really sad. I just sold my Dad's food dehydrater at a yard sale for $3.
I'm kicking myself now.
:(
I have always wanted to get a food dehydrator. I would save so much money making my own dried fruits. I look all the colors of the fruits you dried.
