Chocolate Mint Thumbprint Cookies
I recently created an account on Twitter, I really wasn't sure how it worked or what it involved, but I soon found out and now I am addicted. Josh thinks I need professional help:) It is fun to "chat" with so many friends and everyone is so helpful. If I have a question, it is usually answered in minutes by a couple of different people. I think Twitter is broadening my horizons and expanding my knowledge:) See, it is a good thing!
I was on Twitter awhile ago and saw Dawn's tweet about some cookies she just made. Of course, I hurried over to her blog to check them out. She made Recipe Girl's, Chocolate Mint Thumbprints. The cookies looked incredible! I immediately added them to my never ending baking list.
I never buy Girl Scout cookies, don't get me wrong I love cookies and adorable little girls, but I don't need any extra sweets in my house. I bake too much as it is. Everywhere I turn though I am haunted by GS cookies, especially the thin mints. So to curve my craving, I decided to bump the Chocolate Mint Thumbprints to the top of my list.
I really enjoyed making these cookies. The cookie part was similar to a chocolate shortbread, the perfect base for a mint filling. I melted Andes mint chips for the filling since I had them on hand. Chocolate and mint are meant to be together if you ask me. These cookies kicked my Thin Mint craving for sure! Thanks to Dawn and Lori, my Twitter buddies:) See without Twitter I wouldn't of made these fabulous cookies, it is helpful in so many ways:)

This is why I refuse to get a Twitter account - I don't want to become addicted to it, haha :-D
Lovely cookies!! Classic flavor combination.
These look great - even better than girl scout cookies!
I wish you could just tweet me a cookie! ;) They look great!
Ooh I saw these on those sites too! Love how everything gets around. I will add them to my very long baking list too!
You're better than me, I can't turn down Girl Scout cookies. I think it's because I remember selling them so the nostalgia factor sucks me in. Thin Mints are the only GS cookies that I really like and I am super excited to try these cookies! They look amazing.
oh my gosh- these look tooo good! YUM! Josh's mom brough us some girlscout cookies and they will be hanging out in the fridge for a while now ;)
According to my clean rules (and everyone should do what works for them), certain cereals are allowed- oats (for oatmeal) and anything without a lot of added junk- whole wheat only. Special K is not on the list- haha, Josh's clean is a lot different than mine
VeggieGirl-It is addicting, but a healthy addiction:)
Aggie-I will work on tweeting one to you!
Robin Sue-Love Dawn and Lori's blogs! Hope you try the cookies!
Jessica-I hope you like these!
Erica-Good luck with your clean diet!
oh my gosh - mint chocolate? and chocolate shortbread? and you think TWITTER would cause an addiction? ;)
Yahoooo! You made them. Aren't they addicting little suckers!
I love chatting with you on Twitter, who cares if it's addicting, it makes me happy! LOL Plus I actually do find new ideas for baking & creating.
Thanks for the shout out chicklet!
A scrumptious combo! These cookies look really great!
Pearl-You are right, the cookies are more addicting:)
They were for a party though so luckily I couldn't eat them all!
Dawn-I enjoy twittering as well! I am so glad you made these! I want to try them with other fillings too!
Oh Maria--these look fabulous! I could eat way too many of these cookies. Danger, danger! What a delicious treat!
My husband is a huge Thin Mint fan. I know he'd love these!
They are so cute, and the melted Andes sounds divine!
What a delicious treat maria, very scrumptious.
Those look so good, especially with the gooey middle!
I've been craving thin mints too and these look like they'd do the trick! Thanks!
I found Twitter recently too and I'm really enjoying it too.
mmmm. those remind me of girl scout cookies, only better cause of that melty delicious middle. yummmm.
these look amazing! They deserve a HOLY YUM~~~
Oh my... so cute and so yummy!
chocolate + mint = YUM! These look so decadent, I don't know if I'd be able to stop at 1 :)
I'm a bit of a twitter addict as well! Great looking cookies! Thin mints are my fav girl scout cookie so I need to give these a try!!
I buy girl scout cookies from all my nieces, but I tell them to choose the box and then keep the cookies.
It's a donation to the girl scouts.
but I don't want them in the house!
They have gotten smaller and have so many preservatives in them!
You are tweeting about cookies?
I am trying to stay away from twitter for that reason!
Stacey-Great idea to not take the cookies! I will have to do that!
I don't need any more cookies that will go straight to my hips. But how can I possibly resist these? They look FABULOUS!
They turned out beautifully!
I am in love with anything chocolate mint, YUM!
Cookies really don't do it for me unless they are straight out of the oven and they cannot be crispy at all so I have no problem walking away from girl scout cookies. Your cookies on the other hand look pretty good, soft & chewy!
You did good by these, that is for sure!! Woo hoo!!! These look awesome! Personally I like choco and mint, the combination is Divine, I have never attempted to do on my own but the chocolate in the cookie part.. oh goodness, chocolate goodness I say... lol
They look so scrumptious!! I love thin mints!
I'm coming over from Mormon Mommy Blogs, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tonight-midnight. I used to be ahead but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere, and it's a tight race now. I would so much appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥♥
YOUR VOTE REALLY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Definitely agree--chocolate and mint are meant to be together! Yum-o!
Yum! These look amazing.
I saw Dawn's post about these cookies too. I'm glad you liked them. Ihave them on my list to make.
I saw Dawn's cookies as well...they look identical ;) Brilliant :)
Maria your cookies look and sound so good I bet you could use a junior mint also. Can't wait to try.
These cookies look amazing! I was disappointed with the thin mints this year (reduced box size and cookie size/shape), so this is a great replacement. The chocolate inside looks like a little pool of delicious minty chocolate!
I am also addicted to Twitter. My husband makes fun of me, but I think it has been a great thing :)
Glad you enjoyed these!
I haven't learned all the details about Twitter yet, leaving that alone for the moment so I don't get addicted to something else! Cookies look awesome!!
These look delicious - as usual.
GS cookies are too dangerous to have around, I totally agree! But people used to bring in boxes to the office and I just couldn't resist the temptation. BTW - I got the vanilla and am so excited to use it!!
Thos thumbprint cookies look delicous and are absolutely adoreable!
Yeah, I'm still behind the times and haven't gotten twitter myself.
Culinary Wannabe-I am glad you got your vanilla!!
Those are adorable, and they look really, really good! Of course, anything chocolate for me! :)
These beat girl guide cookies! They look amazing. I love chocolate and mint.
As you know from Twitter (or is it Facebook? :-)) I have a weakness for Thin Mints, so these cookies are calling my name! You never steer me wrong with cookies . . . or soups . . . or sandwiches . . . fajitas . . .okay, you get the idea. Can't wait to try these!
Those look so delicious.
Yes, I think you are addicted to twitter. I see you there all the time. :P Wait, what does that say about me?
I'm too scared to Twitter. Everyone will find out how much of a moron I really am!
Yum, Maria. These do look delicious. I bet they'd rival any girl scout cookie :) Peef would just adore these.
Mint and chocolate... but these look way better then girl scout thin mints! :)
I don't twitter, because I already spend way too much time on the computer! These look delicious!
Yummy! Who could resist the combo of mint and chocolate? They look so gooey and delicious.
Oh yes, they look amazing!!!
I am teetering on the edge of signing on to twitter. But like veggie girl, I'm afraid of getting addicted! ;)
I don't eat a lot of sweet things so I have no probelem turning down the girl scout cookies. These thumbprint cookies, however, are a whole other ball game. They look fab.
I have a twitter acct but have no idea what I'm doing! LOL!! These cookies look wonderful!
Chocolate and mint are one of my favorite combinations. I love the thumbprint idea!
You're right ... chocolate and mint ARE meant to be :)
(and I'm following you on twitter :p)
your typical jam-in-shortbread thumbprints are good enough, but these are outstanding! that pool of melted andes is just luscious. luscious, i say.
I'm with Veggiegirl, I'm terrified of developing a Twitter addiction. My husband is a huge Thin Mint fan and would love these.
These look awesome!
These look lovely - a perfect mouthful!
You'll have to explain Twitter to me. I set up an account, but I don't see what's so addicting about it. Lol
For the best chocolate cupcakes, it's a tie between Martha's One-Bowl Chocolate Cupcakes and Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake (recipe on the back of the cocoa powder, baked as cupcakes). They are both VERY soft and moist!
Divine, just divine!!
I drooled when I saw Dawn's thumbprints and now I'm drooling as I see yours!
