Unwanted Visitors

Our tomato plants are really coming around. They were tiny and weak looking for a long time, but once the heat hit, they have been growing like mad. Sometimes I think they grow inches just while we are at work!

Josh is really good at taking care of his "babies." For now this is all he is getting:) He waters them twice a day, feeds them miracle food, weeds the garden beds, and I think he even talks to them!

The other night we were out weeding and we found some unwanted visitors....SNAILS! We have been watching the plants carefully because they have been lurking. But we found 22 of them trying to harm our beloved tomatoes.

We had to yank them away from our plants...ok Josh got them all out...I didn't want to touch the slimy things:) Josh still had sympathy for them though...he took them to another area instead of just tossing them into the road. So now we are on the look out! Those slimy little suckers better not touch our tomatoes again!

We do have some tomatoes on our plants. This one is our midget version. I think Josh counted 15 of them!! We are excited!! We hope our little garden continues to grow.

Aren’t gardens great! It really is amazing what a little sun will do. We’ve eaten our blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and herbs…still waitin on our eggplant, corn and cucumbers!

Nice looking tomato plants. I had a nice garden at my previous house. We too had an issue with snails. I bought some snail remover pellets and they disappeared after that.

How I love tomatoes! Wish I could grow some here in Tucson...apartment complexes don't work out so well I guess. But YUCK to those mean old snails! Way to go Josh for getting them OUT OUT OUT! Hope you can make lots of wonderful food with your home grown tomatoes. Mmmmm.
